MISSION
PtCRIN mission is to attract, implement, and manage multinational, investigator-driven clinical trials and other interventional studies across Portugal, increasing research quality and therapeutic innovation for the benefit of patients, citizens and health system.
VISION
To improve the quality in clinical research our vision is to create conditions for investigator, patients access to experimental drugs and treatments that otherwise would not be accessible, stimulates the creation of centers of excellence, promotes knowledge, will project Portugal in the forefront of technological development and integration in European clinical research.
This will help to define priorities regarding national networking activities required to promote harmonization of training, tools, practice, and to define which high-quality services should be proposed to support sponsors in clinical studies in Portugal.

OBJECTIVES
The general objective of PtCRIN is the implementation, development and organization of national infrastructures (Clinical Research Centers and Clinical Trial Units/Academic Medical Centers) harmonized with international standards towards the development of investigator-driven clinical research in Portugal by accomplishing the following specific objectives:
- Strength PtCRIN as a solid infrastructure and as the national hub for clinical research as a platform for stimulating Good Clinical Practices (GCP) in clinical trials.
- Capacitation of Clinical Research Centers to be more efficient in the implementation of Clinical Trials, define requirements and implement a Quality Management System in clinical research to perform clinical trials compliant with ICH-GCP and national legislation.
- Develop and organize a national infrastructure of Clinical Trial Units/Data Centers with minimum requirements, assuring the quality of the service provided, giving credibility to the network while providing national and international services.
- Attraction of national and international funds for clinical research and for PtCRIN infrastructure.
